Flood Risk Assessment

Flood risk is at the forefront of planning policy following numerous large scale flood events in recent years.  Current planning policy requires a flood risk assessment to accompany all planning applications for site greater than 1ha in area and/or within areas of medium-high flood risk.

Flood Risk Assessment sit within our civil engineering department and are closely related to our drainage and surface water management capabilities.  We have been carrying out Flood Risk Assessments to accompany planning applications for a considerable number of years and have successfully secured planning permission for clients throughout the UK.

Our reports are supported by calculations which can include channel capacity calculations, existing and proposed surface water runoff rates, attenuation and infiltration calculations and detailed drainage design modelling.  Our reports are undertaken and signed off by chartered engineers so you can be assured of a competent and thorough report.

Whatever the scale of your projects, our engineers work with you and all relevant parties to ensure that the site is safely and sustainably developed taking into account the previous use of the site, the effects of climate change and the need for safe, flood-resistant access and exits without prejudicing offsite areas. Using our extensive knowledge of both sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage design, we’ll then be able to establish a drainage strategy for your site.

Drainage

We continue to demonstrate and strive for a level of excellence in our drainage, infrastructure, highway design and consulting services. Our experience and expertise has proven to deliver cost-effect and innovative solutions on a variety of challenging projects using the latest in industry standard software and tools.

Our commitment has been rewarded by our continued growth in relations with both new and existing clients because our main focus is to ensure that all our client needs are met and that our services are presented to cater for individual needs, for site specific requirements.

A summary of the Drainage and Highways services we provide includes:

  • Design of private surface water and foul water schemes.
  • Design of adoptable surface water and foul water schemes to Section 104
  • Preparation of new development drainage, highway and infrastructure design to approval standards.
