Our Flood Risk guys, Nicola Dibble and Myles O’Hanlon took part in The Big River Water on Friday 22nd September.  We are lucky that our offices are located close to a beautiful stretch of the River Derwent in Derbyshire, and it was nice to get out a review the river as part of The River Trust’s citizen science project.

Nicola and Myles usually look at rivers from a flooding viewpoint, so it was nice to be able to record the quality of the river and the wildlife, flora and fauna which can be seen along the watercourse, as well as looking at the flows and turbidity of the water.  It was less good to note the pollution and debris which can also be found along this stretch of the river.
